Summer of RIFF 2010
So, the sun came out, dandelions bloomed, and suddenly we are rocketing toward summer 2010 like a runaway freight train. Wow. After a winter the Washington region won’t forget for a couple hundred years, it sure feels good.
My grandmother had a saying whenever an event was anxiously awaited. She’d say, “Don’t rush time. It will be here before you can turn around twice and say Jack Robinson!” (O.K. I just tried that in my kitchen and it is not actually time for RIFF yet, but we are this close).
Screenings are in progress this week as judges begin reviewing the entries. Preparation is definitely underway. All of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes is done by dedicated volunteers. Volunteers, I should add, are greatly appreciated and always welcome. There is a lot of work ahead and as our festival is growing, more opportunities abound.
I cannot wait to see this year’s films. It’s exciting to think of the talent pool from far and wide submitting to us. I’d hang around and chat more but I gotta go polish the popcorn machine.
See you at RIFF 2010.
