2008 Theme: Portraits

Good portraits come from artists who intimately know their subject. Masters of their art can take an image and give us a glimpse into the depth and complexity of that which they attempt to capture. In the mid-1920’s, film-makers discovered that they could take 24 consecutive instances from one second and create a moving picture that appeared smooth and natural to the human eye. It was with these seconds, full of 24 frames, that artists told the stories of the subjects that populate our world. This year the Rappahannock Independent Film Festival invites you to share the frames that are important to you.
