RIFF Window Decorating Contest
The Rappahannock Independent Film Festival is sponsoring a window decorating contest to promote the festival and support downtown businesses. This year’s festival will be on August 26-28, 2010.
Entry Procedure
Participation is open to any business located in the historic downtown district with a public window display. There is no entry fee, but registration is required to be eligible for the prizes. To register, please complete the form available at dev.rifilmfestival.com/window. The deadline for registration is July 1, 2010. Upon registration, participating stores will be given a RIFF flyer with a unique entry number which must be posted in the display window. Window displays should be completed by the Friday before the festival, August 20, 2010.
Guidelines
Participants should decorate their window display with a distinct movie-related theme. Some possible ideas for window themes include:
- A particular film
- A movie genre
- A movie celebrity
- Motion pictures in general
Creativity in both concept and excecution is strongly encouraged. Encorporating store merchandise into the display is not necessary, but again, creativity is encouraged. Windows must include the RIFF poster with entry number in a street-visible location to be included in the judging procedure.
Judging
Judging will take place during the festival be based on audience voting. Audience members will be instructed to visit the stores and vote for their favorite display. The participating stores will be listed on the RIFF website, in the printed festival program, and on a display at the main screening area. Votes will be collected over the course of the festival and counted after the final screening.
Prizes
The top three entries will be recognized at the RIFF awards ceremony. The first place entry will be awarded a RIFF trophy and a RIFF t-shirt. The second and third place entries will be awarded a RIFF t-shirt. Furthermore, all participating stores will receive one free all-access pass to the festival.
